IBO Player Setup Guide for TVStrong

IBO Player is the single application TVStrong supports, and it is one of the very few IPTV players you can install on virtually any platform. The interface is tidy, playback is smooth, and crucially it exists on Samsung and LG televisions where most players do not. This guide covers installation on every supported device, playlist activation, and the settings worth changing on day one.

Who makes IBO Player, and what it does well

IBO Player is built by a development group calling themselves IBODEV, for whom the player is one product among several. Knowing the origin matters because it tells you where to download safely: the official IBODEV website, or the content store on your television.

Two strengths justify our choosing it as the only supported application. First, it installs almost everywhere — Android, Windows, macOS, Linux, Fire TV and the closed-source Smart TV platforms. Second, and more importantly, it is a genuinely good option for non-Android Smart TVs. Samsung and LG televisions run closed operating systems that force developers to strip features to fit; most IPTV players simply never appear on them at all. IBO Player did the work, which is why a TVStrong line works on a five-year-old LG in the living room without any extra hardware.

Two honest limitations are worth stating up front. There is no recording function in the current release, and there is no multi-screen mode — the latter being irrelevant here anyway, since every TVStrong subscription authorises a single device at a time.

A note on playlist activation. IBO Player uses remote playlist activation rather than entering credentials on the device. You log into the IBO portal in a browser, add your TVStrong details there, and their cloud pushes the playlist down to your app. It sounds convoluted the first time and takes about ninety seconds in practice.

About the app licence. IBO Player gives you a five-day evaluation period, after which IBODEV charge roughly €5 for a year or €10 for a lifetime key. That is a payment to the app developer and has nothing to do with your TVStrong subscription, which is priced separately on our plans page.

Installing on Android phones, tablets and TV boxes

The easiest platform of the lot, because you have a browser and can download directly.

  1. Download the installation file from the official IBO Player website.
  2. Android warns you that the file came from outside the Play Store. This is expected — choose Download Anyway.
  3. Open the downloaded file.
  4. Tap Install.
  5. Once installed, open the app.
  6. An introductory screen appears explaining what needs doing. Tap OK — we cover playlist activation further down this page.
  7. The app is loaded and ready.

Installing on Windows

Works on Windows 10 and above, 64-bit only.

  1. Download the Windows installer from the IBODEV website.
  2. Windows Security will interrupt because the file came from outside the Microsoft Store. Click More Info.
  3. Click Run Anyway.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Tick the desktop-icon checkbox if you want one, then Next.
  6. Click Install.
  7. Click Finish to launch IBO Player.

Installing on Amazon Fire TV Stick

Fire TV needs a sideloading helper because IBO Player is not in the Amazon store. The Downloader app handles it.

  1. From the Fire TV home screen, move to the magnifier icon, drop down to the search field and press OK.
  2. On the on-screen keyboard type D; Downloader appears as the first suggestion. Select it and press OK.
  3. Select the app to begin installation.
  4. Click Download.
  5. Grant media access when prompted — click Allow.
  6. Once open, move the selection to the address field above the yellow Go button and press OK.
  7. Enter the official Downloader code for the IBO Player Android build — 511693 — and click Go.
  8. The download begins from the official site and the left column switches to Browser. Leave it alone until it completes.
  9. Wait for the download to finish.
  10. Amazon blocks the install because the file is from outside its store. Click Settings.
  11. Choose Install Unknown Apps. If Developer Options is not visible, go to About and press OK on the remote seven times to reveal it.
  12. Select Downloader and press OK so the toggle moves from OFF to ON.
  13. Proceed through the normal installation prompts.
  14. Click OK on the first-run message.
  15. The app is ready.

Installing on macOS

For MacBook and iMac, use the dedicated macOS build.

  1. Download the macOS version from the IBO Player website.
  2. Open the downloaded file and drag the icon into your Applications folder.
  3. After about ten seconds the app is installed. Open Launchpad and click its icon.
  4. macOS refuses the first launch because the app came from outside the App Store.
  5. Click the Apple menu, choose System Settings, scroll to Privacy & Security, then scroll the right pane to the security section and click Open Anyway.
  6. Confirm with Open Anyway. The choice is permanent — subsequent launches are normal.
  7. The application is ready.

Installing on LG and Samsung televisions

This is where IBO Player earns its place. The example below uses an LG set running WebOS; Samsung and Toshiba follow essentially the same path.

  1. Open the LG Content Store.
  2. Click the magnifier icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Type IBO Player.
  4. Pick the correct result. Similarly named variants exist — you want the one called simply “Ibo Player”.
  5. Click Install.
  6. Select Launch.
  7. A welcome message appears on first run. Continue to the playlist section below.

Adding your TVStrong playlist

Remote activation means credentials go into the IBO portal in a browser, not into the app on your television.

  1. On the IBO Player website, click Manage Playlist in the top menu.
  2. The form asks for your MAC Address and Device Key — both come from the app itself, as per the next step.
  3. Open IBO Player on your streaming device and click the profile icon on the main dashboard.
  4. The Device Info panel in the top-left shows both values. Enter them in the browser form and log in.
  5. You are now inside playlist management, where TVStrong lines are added. Two methods are available.

Method A — Add Playlist (M3U / streaming line)

Use this if TVStrong gave you a single long streaming URL.

  1. Click Add Playlist.
  2. Fill in the fields: Playlist name is whatever label you like (“TVStrong” works). Playlist URL is the M3U link from your activation email. XMLTV EPG URL is optional — leave it empty and IBO Player pulls the guide from the playlist automatically. Protect This Playlist adds a PIN if you want one.
  3. Click Save.

Method B — Add XC Playlist (Xtream Codes)

Use this if you prefer separate host, username and password fields.

  1. From the dashboard click ADD XC Playlist.
  2. The fields match the previous method with one addition: HOST, which is the server address in your activation email. Enter your TVStrong username and password alongside it and save.

Both methods reach the same place. If either set of credentials does not appear on your device within a minute or two, use the Data Refresh button on the app dashboard, or contact our support team and we will verify the line from our side.

Living with the Live TV section

One fix is worth applying immediately. By default the Live TV layout is poorly fitted — channel names overflow beneath the preview window and the programme guide sits out of alignment. It is a two-step repair.

  1. From the IBO Player dashboard, click the screen icon next to the Wi-Fi symbol.
  2. You are now in Live Screen Style. The default is Malai TV Style, which is the messy one. Change it to Thai and save.
  3. Channel names now have room, the preview window fits properly and the guide lines up. Categories are hidden by default in this layout — press the left arrow on the remote (or the back gesture on a touch device) to bring them back.

Favourites and search

To add a favourite, long-press and hold OK on any channel in the listing, then choose ADD. A heart appears beside the name and the channel joins the Favourites folder at the top of the category column.

Search sits in the bottom-left corner of the Live TV overview and looks across every category at once. It matches on specific terms, so a partial but accurate fragment of the channel name works better than an approximation.

Movies and series

The on-demand section is deliberately simple and navigates well. Titles are listed newest-first by default. Hold OK on any entry to add it to favourites. Three controls sit in the top-right: the palette icon switches between Modern and Normal themes, the downward arrow sorts by date, rating or alphabetically, and the magnifier searches. Our full channel and VOD breakdown explains what you will find in there.

Settings worth changing

The Settings screen is where the app is genuinely configured. Working left to right across the top:

  • Network — a shortcut into your device’s wireless settings.
  • Parental Control — sets a PIN on the application. The initial password is 0000 even though you never chose it. Forget your new PIN and you can reset it from the IBO portal in a browser.
  • Check for Updates — lets the app update itself remotely.
  • Language — sixteen interface languages are supported.
  • Application Info — version number, build code and licence expiry date.
  • Clear Cache — the first thing to try when the guide misbehaves or artwork corrupts. It resolves most oddities.
  • Manage Categories — genuinely the most useful setting here. Hide categories you never watch from Live TV, Movies and Series, trimming a 24,000-channel lineup down to what your household actually uses.
  • Live TV Player — switches the playback engine between the Android player and the embedded EXO engine. Worth trying if a specific channel stutters.
  • VOD Player — the same choice for films and series.
  • Main Screen Background — twelve backdrop graphics to choose from.
  • Content Strategy — decides whether all live and on-demand data loads at launch or only when you open each section. On slower boxes, load-on-demand is noticeably quicker.
  • Auto Boot on Start — opens IBO Player automatically when the device powers on.

More Options

Seven extra toggles sit behind this menu. The ones that matter in practice: Stream URL Redirection Check confirms you are being served by the address you entered rather than a redirect; Live TV EPG switches the programme guide off if you prefer a bare list; Use Extension in Stream URL follows the extension type of your line, so an M3U-plus link loads channels properly inside categories; Use M3U format in Stream URL forces M3U handling regardless of what you entered; Use Runtime for Movies and Use Runtime for Series defer loading each category until it is opened; and Use UTF-8 Decode fixes character encoding on playlists that need it.

Dashboard buttons at a glance

The row of buttons along the bottom of the dashboard, left to right: Wi-Fi jumps to wireless settings; Live TV Style is the layout switch described above; Live TV Type is an obscure display variant; Main Info Section shows app, device and playlist details; Activation Type governs how the line is attached (the default system works well and is what we recommend); Settings opens the configuration screen; Data Refresh re-pulls your entire playlist; and Exit closes the app.

Setup questions

Which devices is IBO Player available for?
IBODEV publish IBO Player for all Android devices, macOS computers, Windows 10 and above, and Debian or Ubuntu Linux systems. It is also listed in the Samsung and LG content stores, which is what makes it the right choice for non-Android Smart TVs.
Can I record programmes with IBO Player?
No. The application has no recording function of any kind in the current release. Catch-up on supported channels covers most of what recording would give you.
Is IBO Player free to use?
The app itself gives you a five-day evaluation period on first installation, after which a licence must be purchased directly from IBODEV — roughly €5 for one year or €10 for a lifetime key. That fee goes to the app developer and is entirely separate from your TVStrong subscription.
What payment methods does the IBO licence accept?
You can pay by card through the IBODEV store gateway, or with cryptocurrency via their CoinPayments integration.
Can I watch on two screens at once?
No. Multi-screen is not a feature of IBO Player, and in any case a TVStrong subscription authorises one device at a time. If a second person in the household needs a line, order a second subscription.
My channel list looks cluttered and overlapping — how do I fix it?
That is the default Live TV layout, which is genuinely badly fitted. From the IBO Player dashboard open the screen icon beside the Wi-Fi symbol, change Live Screen Style from Malai to Thai and save. Channel names get proper space and the programme guide lines up correctly.
The programme guide or artwork looks broken. What now?
Open Settings and run Clear Cache. That resolves the overwhelming majority of EPG and thumbnail problems. If it persists, message our support team and we will check your line from our end.

Stuck at any point? Our support desk runs 24/7 and will walk you through installation on WhatsApp in real time — that is what it is there for. Reach us from the contact page, or order first from the checkout page and we will help you set up the moment your credentials land.
